Spring has Sprung and what better way to start this season off then a good ol' cleaning. My name is Erika, I am the coordinator and designer for The Happiness Retreat. I have my own event coordination and design company called Event Bliss and love everything that involves blush colors and being in nature. I am here to give you some how to tips and inspiration to kick butt at life. Lets start by purging that closet, cleaning those kitchen drawers, and getting rid of all things unnecessary. Now before we start, you have to understand this will not be a 1 hour task… this is a full day, break it up into rooms throughout the week type of activity, but you will feel amazing afterwards! Plus you then can go shopping and find some new and fresh items for your house this Spring! 1.Purge that Closet When the weather starts to change, you need to make sure that your season staple items are in good condition and still make you feel oh so good. Cleaning out your closet is always a great start to the Spring Cleaning. On my blog TotalBliss, I give you the 5 main tips on how to purge that closet efficiently and effectively. I know it is hard to let go of some of those items you hold close to your heart, but lets face it… if you didn’t wear that sweater this past winter, you aren’t going to wear it next year. Plus what better way to have an excuse to buy some new spring essentials then to get rid of all those items that may not fit you the way they used to. 2.Cleaning out your bathroom cabinets Now this can be a daunting task, especially if you are anything like me who hates throwing anything away. This is a great task to do especially to make sure none of your products have expired, dried up, or are just empty bottles taking up space. First you want to take everything out and start dividing it up by category. My categories are nail products, beach day, hair products, and misc. Now after you start to divide all your products up, you will start to see that you may have a hording issue with lotions or almost empty shampoo bottles. This is when you have to make some tough decisions. Items that have not been open yet and you aren't crazy about, make cute little gifts and next brunch you have or birthday that comes up give them a spa kit. Saves you money and avoids just throwing items away. 3. Move that furniture around Moving your furniture and getting a really good clean under all those areas that never get touched is good once in awhile. This requires sometimes getting on your hands and knees and putting some elbow grease into, but you could make a great workout out of it. I also try to do two things at once and while bending down, squat it out, and when cleaning the floor, add some push ups down there. When you move your furniture around, you may even want to redecorate to create a different feel for you Spring Season. 4. Dissect the kitchen You can do this while taking on Save the Mermaids Plastic free kitchen challenge! A kitchen can get pretty messy and a good sweep and scrub down is always necessary. First take everything out of your refrigerator and freezer, check the expiration dates, wipe down all the nooks and crannies. Reload your refrigerator and organize it into sections. Start by putting your produce in one area, your meats and cheeses in another, all condiments or spreads together. This will allow you to start to see what you can create for lunch or dinner without wasting any food throughout the week. And most importantly... keep it organized throughout Spring! These are just a few helpful tips to start your Spring fresh and oh so clean! Keep in mind of waste, what you can donate, and what you need to purchase to make your home your perfect oasis! xo Erika Bellitt
